Default My DIY Stabilizer

hi tried the DIY stablilizer and works pretty good. I've seen several videos on youtube on how to make one with galvanized pipe so I thought I'd give it a try. I'll post a video clip soon.

Thank you

mind including where you bought the materials, specific parts, cost, etc. so it can be duplicated?

considering the size of your camera, I'm wondering if doing the exact same thing with 3/4" PVC pipe would not only be easier and cheaper, but the overall rig would be lighter as well? This rig looks very heavy... not a big deal, but I guess it depends on how much video you're going to shoot.

Then again... PVC might have too much vibration within the material itself. Looks like a nice rig. Heavy-duty enough to handle a DSLR with relatively heavy lens as well.

Nice job. Maybe I'll try it with 1/2 pipe? Too small?

Parts I needed was, 2-10 inch, 1-24 inch, 1 tee, 3-caps, all 3/4 galvanized,1-1/4 screw 1-washer, 1-bolt, black flat spray paint and 2-2.5 weights. I purchased the hardware at Home Depot and the weights at Wal Mart all totaled $33.00. You'll need to drill a 1/4 hole through one of the caps to fit the screw in and place a washer and bolt to hold in place for mounting your camera. Hope this helps.

Thank you

Hi, your correct about the weight it does get heavy after a few minutes of use. I have 2-2.5lb weight discs on the bottom I plan on removing 1 of them to see if I get the same result.

I've learned whats makes a stabilizer is the weights.

Thank you

the point is that it is heavy. the problem with light cameras is that they're light, which means your hands' looser muscles' natural twitches translate to camera shake. More weight means your muscles have to stay tighter with reduces the twitching.

I'll get out and walk around with it later and find some stairs to walk.

Thank you
