Default Premiere Pro CS5

Id like to learn about this editing software, what books do you guys recommend i read. I really liked Scott Kelbys book on PS CS5. Is there a book similar to that? Thank you.

To be honest, I've never read anything in books that have provided me an edge in editing and video compositing that I haven't learned better techniques for looking around on youtube, vimeo, video copilot, etc etc

Books become outdated the second they are published, and when it comes to stay ahead of the curve in editing, I really hope you will consider the tutorials people publish on the web as a very good source of information as the turnaround time is infinitely faster.

To learn video, watch video - there is a lot of wisdom you'll never see published because its over people's heads', but the people who know how to edit well, also know how to upload to youtube. You just gotta pick and choose you tutorials or watch them all. I did the latter and a year later I work in the video editing industry and I don't have a degree in it.

Take your pick.

Thanks for the help, why i was asking for a book was because Scott Kelby's book helped me tremendously. I will further look into videos on youtube. Im totally new to this software so its going to take me some time.

Just go to youtube, and in the search bar, put "Premiere ________" but fill the blank in with what you want to learn how to do. IE "Premiere color correction." There is also places like Lynda.com which are paid sites full of tutorials. If you're looking for a more general overview of a theory (like color correction) then wikipedia has all you need to know.

It didn't take me long to get to creative editing, but it does take some time to get an eye for it at the professional level... as in I am not there yet really either even though I get paid for it on a daily basis.

I actually learned more just watching nicely edited video clips and trying to mimic them - If you seriously want to get into editing, check out forums like cinema5D and DVinfo. If you are looking to step up, they are the places to start reading. So its kind of like a book haha
