Will i have to be in the 50L lottery if i buy one refurbished from canon themselves? I heard newer 50L's dont have this issue anymore. And since its refurb cant i send it in with my 3 month warranty? or even exchange it for a different copy? Im very worried about having a bad copy.
Anyone have experience with any canon refurb or specifically 50L refurbs or know if the focusing problem for the 50L is still occuring? |

If you're playing the lottery, why not go for the Sigma 1.4 instead? Delivers equally good, and can be returned if it focuses bad...

I have an older one that definitely had some of the problems, but after sending it in to Canon for service (CPS), it came back much improved, and for me, at least, the turnaround time was amazing. Ia shipped it on a Monday and had it back that Thursday!

That's a rather expensive lottery ticket...

the 50L has one issue - when your trying to use it a MFD you can mis focus due to focus shift
3 feet back or so, and your fine. just dont try to use it as a MACRO and you wont experience the shift. |

I would expect a Canon refurb to the like a certified pre-owned car. They inspect it and test it, so no, I wouldn't worry about buying a refurb directly from Canon.

Refurb it is, id buy a used one from POTN, but people rarely sell them and theres no warranty. Id feel safer seeing test shots from them though.
