With the camera locked into the clip I can pick up my entire pack (@25lb) by the camera...it's pretty well locked in there.

Works great with a pro-body and heavier lens. I feel the added weight actually secures it in there better. I have no reservations putting a larger setup in the system.

Has anyone used both this product and a Spyder Holster? If so, which do you prefer?

I have not purchased a Spider Holster, but have used one a handful of times. I prefer the Camera Clip system due to the fact that I can integrate it into the straps/belts that I already own. If I want to attach it to the belt Im wearing, no problem... If I decide I want to take a backpack and move it to a shoulder strap, no issues. I didnt like the mandated extra belt that the Spider needed; not a fan of a belt over a belt. I know they came out with the Black Widow I believe which is a very similar product, but the attachment points are closed so you can only feed a thin strap through it (like a belt). My strap on my bags have items sewn into them that do not allow the BW to slide over them. The Capture system opens up, closes around the area I want it attached to, and then clamps down.

The one point I do like about the Spider is that they have tethers so you cant drop your camera, but Capture has been saying it will make them from the start of their Kickstarter project.

I had the oppurtunity to make extensive use of this on my recent honeymoon to Canada & NYC.
I'm a big fan of backpacks over anything else and use a ThinkTank Streetwalker, I had the cccs attached onto my left shoulder strap with a 7D body and either a 17-55 f/2.8 or 70-200 f/2.8 IS with hoods, both felt comfortable in place, not in the way and secure in place once you get that reassuring clunk. It was nice to have your hands free but still have the camera seconds away from use.

The 7D & 17-55 IS with hood didn't wobble about but I found a couple of times my el cheapo ebay hood must of caught my arm or something and spun round ever so slightly to create an unwanted vignette, once I was aware of this I could quickly check on release and didn't have an issue again. I guess a small piece of tape would help this, it's not the most of tight of fits being a copy and no real fault of the cccs just where I had it.

The 7D & 70-200 IS with hood didn't feel overly heavy or cumbersome in place, when not in use and clipped in if you imagine your left hand in your jeans pocket it would tuck under my arm and fit snuggly, without the arm snuggle it still hung there well although I wouldn't go running around without maybe a strap at the bottom to hold it to the back pack strap.

For one day I also went snowboarding and used the same combo of body lenses as above without issue. I haven't yet but also plan to try it whilst mountain biking, I think the previously mentioned velcro strap to help secure the lens would be advisable with your body lent forward the combo will dangle more rather than rest on your body for stability.

All in all I love it, it has the handy benefit of using the Arca swiss bottom plate so fits straight onto the Joby Gorrilapod SLR Ball X head and Redsnapper tripod I have as well aswell

^^ I just saw this on youtube.. though it's a review of the 1st gen, but i think FRO knows did point out some good points about putting more stress on the lens mount when latched.

The Capture wasn't actually made to be used on a belt, its just kind of morphed into that use. Its original design was to be used on a backpack strap, which it does beautifully.

I actually use mine on the strap of my messenger bag more then anything.

I think he is right though, expect to see more design changes in the future. It is not perfect (much like any carrying system) but it is great in its application.

i like the capture system.. looks like it's pretty solid. much better than the spyder holster i think, especially since the capture hook is also a tripod plate.

i have the BR7 right now and after seeing the thread about it breaking at the hook.. i get very paranoid. so i've started looking at other systems. i don't usually use a backpack style type of bag, mainly use with my $7M bag and/or my Tarmac Velocity 7. so i'm not sure if i can use this on those bags since the straps are super flat.

Like I said I use it on my messenger bag which is the Stealth messenger bag. I attach the capture clip to the side that has the strap over lapping its self. The "double strap" is about 3.5mm thick and the capture clip holds tight and even pulling on it I can not get it to slide or move at all.

If I attach it to just the single strap side (which is only about 1.75mm thick) I can get the capture clip to slide but it takes a lot of force for me to do so (enough force to make me strain while trying to get it to move)

I don't know how well the capture would do on the velocity but I have no doubt it will do just fine on the $7M.

This looks awesome! But $80 is just too much for me... especially because I shoot with my camera gripped 99% of the time, so I am not sure how well it works with a gripped cam. I hate neckstraps, but absolutely love my handstrap, and this would be the perfect combo with that.

I wish that I could try one somewhere!

If anyone wants to sell their's let me know!

I would imagine it would depend on the quality of the grip you have... this thing is supposed to just be a quick release head that you can attach to a strap.

It is a good quality canon OEM grip, so I am not too worried about the grip itself, but more about what this guy has showed...

Works great but its not suitable for cameras with gripped bodies. You can see the weight the gripped gear pulls on my belt.

I often have to find somewhere to set down my camera while posing and stuff, so this would eliminate that, I could just clip it quickly to my hip, pose, and resume shooting. But the thing that is really holding me back is the price, had I found out before while it was still being funded I probably would have splurged on the $50, but $80 is just way to much IMO.
