Don't feel pressured into buying it now if you're still undecided. After it's official release it will still be available, but just for a much higher price.

I'm sure I'll buy this within the few days remaining, but unsure whether I want the bike mount for $25 more. Any thoughts? I don't think I would want to leave my $1,500 body/lens on my car without protection. But then I think about my cheaper P&S that could go on there...

Yeah, Peter never followed up with a video of the bike mount system in action so i couldn't pull the trigger on the extenders..... though there is still time to decide whether the extenders can be purchased.

Hey Patrick, I'm backing this one as well but haven't been on the early release cycle. Do also have a particular tripod head that you use in conjunction with this? Or are you using as a 'carry only' sort of option? If it's built as well as it seems, I'm hoping to be able to ditch both the CottonCarrier and RapidStrap setups I have; but I need to be able to easily disengage from the carrier and lock into the tripod.

Sounds good; I've got a Markins Q-20 /w lever lock. Just wanted to know that it's an easy enough switch.
Looking forward to getting one to play with.

So, I finally got mine today. Haven't had any chance to really use it yet; but first impressions:
Compact, well-built and simple. I like the way the plates sandwich together, so that you can attach to various things. The one drawback is that the max height between the plates will not allow it to secure to the padded shoulder straps of a good pack; so the highly touted "backpack" position isn't actually possible with some bags. (F-Stop Tilopa, for example). The camera plates are odd, in that they're square, and have some odd loops on each edge; I suspect that they're for attaching handgrips, but not having one I'm unsure. Once locked on to whatever you attach it to, this thing grips and isn't going anywhere, as near as I can tell. I now have it attached to the hip belt on the Tilopa and it rides nicely, just above the hip. As for attachment, the camera plate slides in to the unit quite easily, and latches securely; it won't come out until you push a release button on top of the unit. This does mean that you need to have the unit positioned so both hands can reach it; which is convenient so that you have both hands by the camera when you release the latch. The camera plate is Arca-Swiss compatible; but you may need to adjust width on your clamp and as such, most likely, won't be able to mix/match plates between your camera and any lenses with lens collars. I'm using a Markins M-20 ball head with QR lever and it required a slight adjustment for the Capture plate to lock in...but it works easily and flawlessly after that. Overall, I'm quite happy with the unit and looking forward to actually getting to USE it

^ hi I have tried it out on both new and old shoulder straps and had no issues...
Its not pressed to the bottom of each plate but I would suggest that added upward pressure creates an equally tight fit. http://vimeo.com/26753353

I just got mine. Both my 7D and 5kmk2 have L plates, so instead of attaching the capture plate to the L plate, I screwed to a 40mm arca swiss quick release clamp. That way I can swap between both camera without having to screw and unscrew and its easier and faster to go from clipped to my belt to tripod setup. I have similar setup with my cotton carrier button which is attached to knob release arca clamp.
