Default iPhoto and Canon Powershot S30

I use an imac with iPhoto, when i import photos from my Canon Powershot S30 they all import into iphoto fine until the camera seems to go to 'sleep' the green light stop flashing and the last few images just don't import - Aslo it recognises how many images are in the camera. It seems to be a 'time issue' because if I only have a few pics to import its fine, but if its twenty or so it 'times out'..any ideas how i can keep the camera 'active'. The pics import fine using the canon software, but i prefer using iphoto.

That is most likely due to the timer in your camera. It's powering off your camera to save battery life. You can shut that feature off in the settings menu. However, you will have to remember to turn that feature back on when you are done or start remembering to power off your camera when you don't use it for a while.

The easiest solution, though is to depress the shutter button a few times during import. It does not have a function in 'play' mode but it tricks the camera into thinking that it is being used - therfore it does not power off.

Hope that helps.

Using the USB port on the camera takes quite a lot of power and drains the battery rather quickly. If the camera is hooked up to external power via the AC adapter/battery charger, you should not have a problem at all. With this configuration, the camera should not turn itself off until long after the download has been completed.
