Default Tripod Suggestions

I'm looking at buying a new tripod and would appreciate any suggestions.

I was interested in the Bogen/Manfrotto but there are so many choices.

With or Without Head included?

3 Way Pan/ Tilt or Ball Head?

It's hard to differentiate while shopping online.

with the 10D I generally use the Bogen 3205 tripod with either Bogen 3265 Grip Action Ball Head or the Bogen 3029 Pan/Tilt Head. They are light, inexpensive and pretty much all your need for the 10D unless you have a pile of L series Telephoto lenses. I switch out the heads depending on what I am shooting. Ball head are quick to adjust but hard to be totally accurate with. The 3-way tilt head allows me to repeat angles over and over. Bottom line is that it is personal preference. You also might wanna check out the 3001 tripod, it has the double-positioning vertical and horizontal center column which you may or may not find useful. I don't have that one but if I were replacing the 3205 I have I might give it a look.

I hope this is helpful, Good luck to you.

I use a Bogen 3021PRO tripod with a Bogen 3055 ball head w/quick-release.

(the 2nd url is to OneCall.. looks like Bogen may have discontinued this head)

I enjoy using them both.

Hi,
I use a Cullman tripod with the Manfrotto 410 Gear head.
I'm pleased with both, bit I intend to buy a Manfrotto Carbon tripod if budget permits.

I use a Manfroto 440, which is graphite fiber. I also got the magnesium head. It is pretty good and very light.
