Default Self-made shoulder Rig

So i actually did this for one of my engineering classes, had to do a bunch of extra force, position, velocity calcs on it. But I just really wanted to make my own shoulder rig after watching tuts online. If i could get some input from some experts here that would be great, now that the project is over, I'm gonna add in more stuff to make it better.

the system does have a focusing system, you simply rotate the left rod, where the links are connected to and it will turn the focus ring. Ran out of time towards the end, but I will add a back plate to this for more stability.

made out of acrylic, 3D rendering in Pro/E and cut with a 60W laser cutter. The metal insert is made with a lathe and some parts were milled. handle bar grips i got from a bike shop.

Haven't really tested it out yet, as it's still finals time. I will make some sample vids after finals.

Thanks cyber.

I have only shot stills up till this point, but I own 2 5d2s. So i thought why not make use of my video. So I guess i'm too eager to gear up before I even know what i need. I don't really have any projects in mind, but i guess i'll just start practicing with this during the summer. one thing i forgot is, i didn't consider the fact that i can't put the camera rig into other orientations, maybe version two, i can come up with something more versatile.

yea, it's cheap, and takes less time to cut than aluminum, since i already have section cuts of the rig in autocad which can just be printed from the laser cutter. my school doesn't have a working cnc, so can't do that with aluminum.

Total cost of the rig was under 50 bucks.

the focus handle is nice and simple, if it can operate smoothly then it will be cool.
