Default BorrowLenses.com Seeks Receiving Manager

Hey there - are you a photographer? Have you ever considered how incredibly awesome it would be to work for one of the nation's largest, and coolest, online photography rental companies; BorrowLenses.com? Well, aspiring applicant, imagine turning that dream into reality, because due to our explosive growth we are in need of awesome people to join our close-knit team of photographers.

BorrowLenses.com is a first and foremost a fun and casual place to work, no doubt, but it can prove to be a hectic working environment that requires determination, attention to minute detail, and the ability to focus on the task at hand amid ringing phones and mass quantities of boxes moving in and out of the workplace on a daily basis. It's a bit chaotic at times, we won't lie, but we're a five-star rated team of ass-kickers that rely on each other to get the job done, and our customers love what we do for them.

The best part about all of this? You will have unfettered access to our massive collection of photo gear. That's right -- you can take whatever is available, any time you want! In addition to gear we also provide a laid back work environment, medical benefits, paid vacation, 401k and free lunch on Wednesdays. We only want the best people though, so please check out the job description below, and if you think there's a fit email your resume to us via resumes@borrowlenses.com. Thanks for reading, and hopefully we'll be seeing you behind the front lines soon!

------

We are on the hunt for a person with a rare mixture of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and alpha-leader management skills. In this role you will head up our receiving department where you will be the shepherd of a five-person(and growing) flock whose task it is to clean, inspect and test every piece of rental equipment that returns from our customers. It's a challenging role, and one that requires a delicate balance between speed and precision along with spectacular attention to detail admist a fast-paced, hectic work environment.

This is a full-time position (M-F and occasional Saturday), and will require you to not only inspect and test equipment but to manage 5 hard-working and fun-loving people's schedules (time in/time out), and work efficiency (fooling around vs time on the phone with customers vs time cleaning lenses, etc.). We also expect you to deliver innovative and creative solutions to running the department, should you decide there is a better way to run it than what we've come up with. We're a fast-growing start-up, and thinking creatively and proactively is encouraged. One big perk, along with access to enough gear to choke a hippo, is that your voice will be heard and your ideas could easily be implemented! We would prefer candidates with business backgrounds (major/minor) in conjunction with wide-ranging knowledge of the world of photography.

Responsibilities:
-Quality control
-Manage a team of 5 receivers that are cleaning, inspecting, repairing and sorting camera equipment
-Manage the teams schedules
-Clean, inspect, sort and repair camera equipment
-Communicate directly with customers in regards to orders. This includes via phone and emails
-Work closely with our Shipping Department to deliver the required equipment into their hands
-Delegate tasks and job duties to receiving team

Mandatory skills:
-At least one-year of customer service experience
-At least two-years of recent managerial experience
-Strenuous attention to detail
-Intimate technical knowledge of DSLR systems, lighting, and video gear
-Strong analytical and communication skills
-Proven track record of ability to exercise good judgment and successfully resolve customer complaints while maintaining a positive attitude
-Ability to manage people
-Punctuality
-Strong communication skills

Recommended skills:
-Logistics knowledge/very familiar with FedEx
-BA in photography or degree in business/management

They used to be in burlingame which I loved since they were so close, but now their main facility is a few cities down in San Carlos (15-20 mins from the SFO).

Ah this job would be awesome, I remember when they posted on the local CL for job listings, I should've applied then
