Default Saying Thanks for a Tip

Some time ago, there was a thread in this forum talking about receiving tips from the couple at the end of the evening. I mentioned that I find myself receving a tip about 20% of the time.

Usually, it's presented by the couple late in the evening and I have the opportunity to express how it wasn't necessary along with my appreciation. Last night, it was presented to me by the best man on behalf of the couple. Should I have made a point to acknowledge it to the couple that evening? Do I mention it when we get together in a few weeks? Either feels awkward so do I not bring it up at all?

Mention it and include something extra.
Perhaps a Canvas stretch print, video, or .....

Why include the "extra"?
The tip was for a hard day's work.

If the bride and groom insist on giving a tip I'll usually give them back something extra like a few extra pages in the book I do for them. Or something really special that they wouldn't expect like a framed photo of them.

I think I'll do that; thanks!

I always include a "Thank You" note with their after-wedding package, whether they tip or not. But I feel that is sort of a nice way to thank them for a tip. I also track down both the bride and the groom before I leave to thank them and give them a hug or handshake... whichever feels more appropriate. Which, again, I feel does a good job of thanking for a tip if there is one and is just a nice thing to do even if there isn't one.

And if someone does give me a tip I'm slightly more inclined to include a few extra prints and goodies with their package. I know the tip is for a day of work and they don't need anything in return, but one of my June weddings tipped me 30% of their ENTIRE package price. Yeah.

Never had a tip ... ever. In certain parts bof the world this may be the norm but certainly not in Australia.
