Default Equine Photography, 20D or XT?

Greetings all! I'm looking for some advice on which way to go in purchasing a new camera. I'm getting into equine photography on a bit of a larger scale, and would like to upgrade from a 300D and the crappy plastic lens that came with it! The 300D is basically our families camera so it's been knocked around a bit and just isn't performing as well as it used to, and the lens also has scratches on it and dust inside.

I shoot mostly outdoors with quick shutter speeds in full sunlight which is constantly changing so I have to often stop and adjust my ISO and aperture. I'm told the XT is better for people with small hands, which I have. Lightness is a key factor too as I can't always use a tripod. Speed in which the images write to the CF is key for me when taking burst shots. Which would suit me better? I've seen fantastic images from both but I do not have the means to go try one out and then decide. I'd only be buying the body of the camera and the lens seperate, both the 20d and the XT seem to be about the same price. Thanks in advance, I appreciate your replies!

If you have to change your settings often a 20D will be better, it has more buttons and is easier to control. Some L lenses have dust protection. The images from the cameras will be near identical if you use the same settings.

The 20D will likely cost a bit more than the XT.

The XT would be good if you have small hands. The 20D would be good if you have large hands. The 20D is just slightly more civilized, but the sensors are similar.

Don't forget the 20D is better at higher ISO then the XT and larger buffer.

20D for the better buffer and higher burst rate, especially if you shoot jumping, steeplechase, barrel racing, . . .
