Default 40d / 50D time lapes tips

Looking to try some time lapes video and wonder any good tips or guides.

I have 40D and 50D I also have the TC80N, I use mac so I have iMove (latest) and I if it's not doable in iMove I will think about buying final cut if you guys thing thats better.
