Very nicely done. You must have needed and ISO/lens combination that practically lets the camera see in the dark.

difficult lighting conditions...did you shoot in RAW, cause you might be able to bring back some of the real colours or are you going for the on stage look...

In any event you captured things well here...

Outstanding!
What technique did you use to meter? The dark backgrounds can really cause trouble.

Hi CDS,
Oustanding images! You managed to catch the right moments.
The light might have been difficult but played out well in the final result. Love the contrast.
Did you went Manual or AV, exposure wise?

Wonderful pictures. My main profession is in video production and I'm often hired to videotape stage performances like this, but truth be told, I would much prefer the challenge of photographing these events. For some reason the wonderful still shot's like the ones you have posted here seem to have more impact than video. At least that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

A fine job there pal

Were you on a job? Or does the venue allow photographers with pro gear shoot away?

Thanks for the comments

I do like to maintain the on stage look,. so I usually keep to the as shot WB mostly,. In same cases I will correct for the colored lights if things look too saturated.

I shoot a combo of AV and manual,. this time miore AV,. partial metering and + compensation.

Also,. I used to shoot these,. as with all my work 100% RAW,. but this time I actually had to chance to get published (fell through ) and needed to provide images for the Ballet on site.

So I shot RAW plus jpeg,. and well, these are all from the jpegs.
Given the difficult environemnt and the huge percentage of tossers,. jpeg is a reasonable option in this case IMHO and I probably should have just shot jpeg only.
