Default Question about printing and matting

Hi everybody!

I was looking to enter a few of my pictures into the county fair and these are the rules for mounting...

A. All mounting must be 11" in height for all 8" x 10", 5" x 7", and 4" x 6". Exception is 8" x 10" portrait style photographs, the height must be 14" in height. Mounting width must not be more than 4" wider than the photograph, ( Example: a 4" x 6" photograph would be mounted on a board 11" high x 10" wide).
B. Photographs must be securely fastened so as not to fall off the mounting. C. All mountings must be rigid and no more then 1/4" thick. D. Mounting can be commercial products, corrugated cardboard, or similar material.

I have uploaded the pics to mpix but they don't seem to be very detailed on their website about what you get...and for some reason it does not give me the option for double weight matte board on my 8x10 pictures. I emailed them...but I am curious...and would really prefer to take a thumb drive to a physical store and have it done there so I know what I am getting...

So can somebody give me any advice on what store I could go to? I love in the DC area and I assume there has to be places that do this? It would be super helpful to know as one day I might consider selling some of my work!

Thanks!

You can find precut window mats at an art supply store. You should also be able to find archival tissue tape that you can use to hinge mount your print to the backing board. All very easy to do. Have fun.
