I assume if you use these to fire an Einstein strobe or any other studio strobe you would only be able to control the power on the back of the Einstein correct? Has anyone tried HSS with these triggers and an Einstein or other studio strobe?

The hotshoe on the King TX is not for mounting a flash. Pixel has yet to release a device making use of the shoe.
Even if a flash could be used on the TX, Canon does not allow for "mixed mode". Photographers should be familiar with Canon Flash Control menus and Canon Wireless before using the kings, as the Kings are driven by the camera's settings.

ahh man.. so much great detail and info.. Was looking at Phottix Odin, but now I am thinking to grab Pixel King.
Would you suggest to stick with 2 430ex ii's or buy Yongnuo YN-565EX 's to pair these guys with? |

Stick with the 430's, the Yongnuo's don't have HSS.

I have been using the Pixel Kings for several months now and they work very well.
The only problem is that they forget all settings once you turn the transmitter off (for a test shot without flashes, etc.). I have used them with two Canon 580 EX II, but will sell Canons and the Pixel Kings as I'm upgrading to a more powerful flash package (Profoto or Elinchrome).

Ah - don't turn the King TX off - just set Flash Control menu to "Flash Firing - Disable"!

The Kings are designed as a radio bridge between Canon cameras with FCM, and Speedlites. They do more than this. but it is the over-riding principle. The Odins create their own non-Canon interface so can do things that Canon has not provided.

And have a much better service record. Consider the YNs an annual subscription.

The Kings use the camera's HSS signals to advance the Fire! instruction to pre-shutter. This provides a form of "hypersync". A PC-sync connection will not convey the HSS data stream.

The hotshoe on top of the TX cannot operate a flash.

Still enjoying mine. Love gangshooting with ettl. Gives a lot of flexibility with hss for run and gun shooting. Hopefully will add some more 580s soon. Such a flexible package.

Just an update: 5d iii, 430 EX II x 2, 580 EX II x1 at 50th anniversary today. 347 shots, 0 misfires. I think my earlier full-dump/ misfire problems were due to me not seating the shoe fully into the receiver. All TTL.
