Default Dealing with publicist(s)

I have been asked by one publicist to send in photos for approval before sending them off for being published, because they said they "don't won't strange facial expression" being sent out, do you go along with this?

Never heard of that before. I can't imagine how much of a delay that would cause for editing the pics and getting them out

I've been asked to send photos in for approval a few times. I sent in Taj Mahal photos to his management and never heard back so I didn't submit them to my editor. Another artist, or at least his manager asked for approval prior to posting and I forgot to send them... but they loved the shots and it wasn't a big deal. I typically only post flattering photos though. I have a few that are hilarious due to errant tongues, but I wouldn't even consider posting those.

Another question about publicists, how do you deal when one minute they kind of say "Yes, but can you email us in a few days before the gig(s)/event(s)" but then say, "Oh we only give out to people who review them"

review what, the show?

then either hook up w/ a writer, or start writing yourself.

"don't won't strange facial expression"

A musician with a strange expression, I can't imagine.

since the publication is your client, you've really got no business sending anything to the publicist for approval. The publicist is welcome to ask the publication, but your obligation is to your client.
