Hi everyone, I'm new here. I have been lurking but would appreciate some feedback on this photo. This is my Fiance who doesn't like to pose but gave me a few shots recently. Specifically please CC the following:
- Exposure, this is setting sun with a 430EX through an umbrella for fill.
- Composition, I thought the setting sun on the trees in the background was nice at the time but now it may be distracting?
- Crop?
- PP? I did some smoothing and touchup but how many wrinkles can you get rid of on a 45 yr old without it being unrealistic? :)
- Anything else would be appreciated!

Thank you, Mike

Hmmmm, sorry, I thought I posted the photo link correctly but it's not showing up. Would someone mind helping a newbie out? TY, Mike

Looks like you moved the picture or something on Flickr because the link doesn't find the picture on Flickr. Try linking to that photo again on Flickr but Click on the Share button (in Flickr), Select Grab the HTML/BBCode and click on the BBCode option on the bottom of that selection. Then just copy the HTML Info there and paste it here.

TY very much. I used the "Grab the link" option before.

I think the composition works well. As far as getting rid of wrinkles you need to make sure that this person still looks the way she looks now. Otherwise she may not be too pleased with the editing. She looks fine to me though.

Yes, eyes are a bit soft and I'd like to see more light on the face. Other than that, I like it.

This was the 70-200 2.8L IS. Wouldn't expect this to be the softness issue. Any thoughts?

I agree with more light on the face, eyes are a bit dark, the hat doesn't help.

Jsut a couple of thoughts.

A reflector guiding a bit of light up under the visor of the hat might help.

Also perhaps crop it as a portrait or square, removing the bright yellow on the left side of the photo, the glow behind her is ok.

It looks like focus fell on her ear or hair line.

Hope this is what you were looking for.

Need more fill. Nice composition. Apparent softness might be a DOF issue. What is the focus point? Nice Bokeh as well...love the 70-200L. Might also try a portrait crop. JMHO.

Nice comments, thank you! I will check focus point. I was targeting the eye but this was after many shots of my son also, so fatigue with this heavy lense was likely. Should have been on a tripod but this was spur of the moment, lucky to get her to stand in. Will also try the portrait crop.
