With the Zombie Apocalypse, of course, which I intend to photograph with my 1Dx.
That'll ride the other side of a Black Rapid from my Poulan Pro with a Remington 870 as backup. :P |

Panic sellers. They are foolish to cash out prior to the forthcoming 5DIII announcement(s).

Ive got too much Time and $$ invested in Canon to even think about a change to Nikon. I know my cameras well, Know what i need to do when i get in trouble and i like what i have. Dont want 36mps,,EVER. 16MP is bad enough running files through photoshop and by the time i get them the way i want them, some of these files are 20-27MP after post......They take forever to run actions and they just tie up the workflow. Most wedding guys dont want larger MP cameras. We print albums, 16x20's and an occasional 30x40.......i dont need any more. Clean iso at 6400, great resolution and im good. I understand everyone else wanting more and thats fine. Plenty to choose for your needs these days so everyone can have at it. Im sooooo impressed with the 1DMKIV and im really anxious to see what the 5D3 is going to do. One more point. Im not so sure this 1Dx is going to be a good performer for canon if these cameras at the 3K price point are going to be this good. D800 is impressive. Im sure the 5D3 will be as well. So why the need for a 7500.00 camera when the 3000.00 cameras are going to be this good ?? |

Y'all don't think Getty, Reuters and SI can afford $7500?
Better question: How many do you need to buy to have the Volume Discount kick in?

Canon may well ask $7500 for it at launch. This is why I never (with one exception) buy bodies at launch. Once all the preorders are filled and the bodies are sitting on the shelves at the major retailers the price will come down. And I'm with one of the previous posters here, I'm waiting to see what else Canon has up their sleeve before deciding on my next body.

Yeah, they could put the 7D autofocus system in it, but unless they expand the size of the autofocus sensor appropriately, that would only get you a really good expanded center point, and not anything like the D800 or 1Dx autofocus systems, which get you rule-of-thirds location coverage. If you want to get an idea of how Canon thinks about its customer base, just look at their most recent lens announcement. They introduced the new 24-70 without IS, and introduced two slow, wide angle f/2.8 primes with IS. Which is to say, they put IS where it matters the least, and intentionally neglected to put it where the demand is high (IS on the 24-70 was one of the most anticipated upgrades). And Canon wants $2300 for that new 24-70 lens that doesn't even have IS. With that in mind, there is no way Canon will create a lower end product (5D3) that can provide significant competition to its new, shiny flagship model. We are not customers to Canon, we are consumers.
