Well, at least payment was received... in the form of a printed manual.

Good Canon contacts!
Unfortunately I couldn't get the pdf version... that was a no no
It would have been hot stuff though!

I'm looking forward to examine all the settings

The 1Dx already has a better build, better battery life, longer shutter life, better weather sealing and subject tracking to go along with its better AF system. Even if IQ is exactly the same as the 5D3 it's a strong upgrade for the extra $2,950 (counting the BG-E11 in the price of the 5D3 to be fair.) Add in the near certainty that it'll have better ISO performance will only add to the value proposition.

Sure, most folks can and will get all that they need and more from the 5D3, but some do want or need more...
What I'm saying Erik is, try a 5DIII it's really is a lot more of a professional camera than any previous non 1D series that I've tried. Don't knock it until you have tried one. It's one very fine machine. Sure it's not quite a 1Dx but I'm sure that gap is narrower than you think.

I 1000% agree with you. My 5D3 will be here in 2 weeks. 1Dx Will be better,,,,But i dont need that much better with an MKIV. The MKIV i got was $3900.00 and the 5D3 was $3500.00. Total price was 7400.00

1Dx is estimated to retail for $6900.00. For $500.00, I get 2 outstanding cameras that will exceed all my expectations.......the decision was actually very easy to make after I could see what this 5D3 was capable of......No brainer for me

I can't disagree with any of that. The 1Dx is still mostly vaporware and I haven't yet touched a 5D3...

We'll see about the gap in coming months but I do agree that Canon has made major strides in the 5 series. The AF alone is pushing me to upgrade.

Until the extra funds appear, though, I'm holding out for the 1Dx and hoping that it's all it's hyped to be.

Erik, I have every faith that the 1Dx really will live upto expectations. I remember my suprise when I first read it' spec sheet. It's on hell of a spec. I'm just wondering if the same lockup bugs that are blighting the new Nikon cameras are also occurring on the 1Dx...I'm only theorizing...

Yep. If they meet that spec I'll be impressed. And happy.

Nah! Canon is its own company. I'm sure they have their own unique bugs to iron out... I do like that they are holding off shipping until they are ready, whether it be for bugs or to fill the production pipeline. Much better than releasing buggy cameras one or two at a time...

Agreed, Erik. In fact, I'm sorta glad it's not available yet, as it's giving me more time to save money for it... ha!

Just got an email from my pre-order retailer stating they will "update" me weekly on the 1DX back order. Must be getting close.

Hoping to have it by June 12th for vacation in Little Cayman Island!

I've been getting those backorder notices for a while. Now I'm getting them on the 24-70 II as well.

I've got an event in May that I'm going to have to shoot with the 5D2. No problem there, of course.

I'd love to have the 1Dx for some end of June, early July stuff I've got planned not to mention fireworks shots on the 4th...

Same here, leaving on June 28th. Looking doubtful that my camera will be delivered in time...
