How much would you charge for this quality 1000x1000px images? I really need your opinion ASAP.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ...I forgot... This batch includes 80 items. The customer has more items coming and I would like to charge them "right". Thank you for your time. Last edited by Anatoli : 19th of October 2011 (Wed) at 02:22. |

I, too am interested in this pricing structure. Usually, I would charge a minimum amount as my studio/production fee (Either it be half day or full day) include editing, and then charge them usage separately but I'm sure you won't be shooting the 80 products in one go so you could charge $25-$30+ per image which would include editing and depending on your market, you could either charge usage separately or bundle it in the deal.

Conditions, terms, territory and period of use would be helpful. Otherwise there is just no way to put a good estimate on this.

and your location will help too, i am sure price will be different if you are in NY vs Alaska
but my feeling is that, can't charge much because the expectation is not very high here

I am in Seattle area. Time frame is about a week, that means no rush. They are going to use images on the Internet only. Some of the pieces are really complicated to work with - white/light colored pearl.
I do not think, I can use my expenses for rate calculation. Put yourself in their shoes. I would probably pay for expected result, which has been completed on time. Thank you all for your posts. |

You gotta figure out the usage also. Is it editorial display or commercial use? Most likely commercial, which means the licensing is more expense. If you're not interested in getting into those licenses, figure out what your time is worth and go from there.
I just pulled a license price from Foto-Quote (~75% average market value): Washington state Digital Advertising, Web use, Local market, Half page, Up to 1 month @ $170 for the license only. Then throw in your photographer's fee.

Sometimes the easiest way to price a job is often the most overlooked - ask the client what their budget is.
Not all of them will tell you, or tell you honestly, but if you have one that does, it can save you a lot of stress trying to come up with a rate that you think is enough to compensate you, but low enough that they will feel it's fair. If they are willing to share their budget, you might even find that they are willing to pay more than you would have asked for. Certainly many photographers have found out after doing a job for their quoted rate of say $5,000 that the client really had $15,000 budgeted for the job if they needed to spend that. That's a real bummer! If what they quote as their budget sounds low, you can always negotiate up, but if you quote a specific rate for the job up-front without at least trying to find out more about their budget, it's pretty tough to negotiate up if you've already given them a quote. |

tell them you want to get paid in merchandise. Apparently merchandise is a new form of currency:

Not related to the rate, but I would have a little more space between the necklace and the bracelet in the first photo.
I don't see a problem with establishing an hourly rate for the client, and give them an expected number of hours, say 8-10 hours of shooting and 3-4 hours in post, delivery, etc.
