Default POTN G-series Speed Challenge #354 - The Armchair Traveller Photographic Tour

Challenge #354 - The Armchair Traveller Photographic Tour

Hi all and welcome to this week's challenge!

My two favourite subjects when I was at school many decades ago were geography and sociology; and although I have done some travelling I am still an avid armchair traveller - countryside to bustling inner cities; icebergs to sun drenched beaches;stunning architecture to romantic restaurants....I leave no corner of our Earth untouched and unloved! Therefore this week I am your virtual guest and would like to be taken on a virtual tour of the hidden gems or well known landmarks in your local area! Take me to the places you think I should experience!! My seatbelt is fastened...let the tour commence.....

CHALLENGE RESULTS

Thank you for all your wonderful entries - I had the trip of a lifetime!

My tour started off in stately BRITISH COLUMBIA (Teekay - Our Courthouse) where I solemnly promised, outside the courthouse, to behave myself on this tour! Its majestic appearance set the right mood for this photographic journey.....
then off to sunny CENTRAL CALIFORNIA (Maureen Souza - Giant Redwoods, Sequoia National Park), trying to look up to the top of these magnificent trees gave me neckstrain.... an appreciated side trip to the Sunmaid Raisin vineyard eased the pain ....
time to chill so I head off to cruise the PUGET SOUND area and be the archetypical tourist (PWDieter - The Salish Sea Cliche Photo)....mmm, relaxing on the deck, glass of white wine, admiring the glorious ice capped peaks ...scenery that has literally jumped off the pages of my holiday reading material, the National Geographic mag......
following the trail southwards to the hilly city of SAN FRANCISCO, (CarloY - Follow the Leader in San Francisco) I take time amongst the hustle and bustle to appreciate the hilltop views of this iconic city....I think I glimpsed the Golden Gate Bridge earlier too!...
Eastward bound across the States I head to VIRGINIA (Jim Askew - Arlington National Cemetery), remembering those brave heroes .......
Heading north to BEDFORD,NEW YORK (Kevan- Ancient White Oak,circa 1500) for more time to ponder and wonder...this oak may not be as tall as the sequoia but it is just as beautiful nevertheless....
Across the Atlantic, heading for WIDNES,ENGLAND (PaulChad - North West Vintage Rally,Victoria Park,Widnes)....time for tea in a delicate porcelain
cup and a slice of homemade victoria sponge,a scout around for that 40s coat and I need to replenish my red lipstick supply.....
Mind you, lipstick is not really appropriate for my next stop, NORTHUMBERLAND, ENGLAND (OpenC - Lagangarbh)....the countryside is breathtaking here,if a little bit on the chilly side but my vintage coat has kept me warm....
westwards, and IRELAND (Marie - Our heritage...this beautiful land of our fathers) for a well earned chill out....dangling my feet in the babbling brook, scrambling over the ruins and savouring perfect photo opportunities....heaven indeed...
further west, and back to the United States and KELLEYTOWN,GEORGIA (JohnAskew3 - The General Store,Kelleytown,GA) and a beautiful old tumbledown building to remind me of the old shacks and sheds of my home, so I don't get too homesick ....
South now to ECUADOR (R Politsr- Middle of the World -Equator ) ...time to straddle the Equator, how novel, what joy! I find myself jumping from the north hemisphere to the south hemisphere and back again and again....
Over the Equator and down to ARGENTINA (b33felix-keep it alive) for a totally different experience...and welcome to the challenge, by the way, ....certainly food for thought...
North of the Equator and back over the Atlantic to EDINBURGH,SCOTLAND (xhack - my local rubble:Craigmillar Castle)....where the sun was actually shining and I imagine the view must be brilliant from the tower but I'm not brave enough to investigate!...
And south again, into England, and the beautiful ESSEX marshlands that is my home! Time now to reflect on my tour....

My top 3 destinations were:

3rd MARIE - Our Heritage ...this beautiful land of our Fathers

2nd R POLITSR- Middle of the World, Equator 0 degrees

1st PWDIETER - The Salist Sea Cliche Photo

Thanks for the tour, folks.....over to you Paul !
