My latest acquisition: an Exakta Varex. According to the serial number built in 1952 with a Zeiss Biotar 58mm F/2 lens. At the time one of the most sought after cameras.
The protrusion on the lens caught the shutter release to trigger the aperture setting. Focussing could be done wide open.
Optional for this model (and later standard in the Varex VX II) was a prism viewfinder. The fresnel matt screen for "waist level" focussing in a light shaft could be replaced.

That video was a nice overview of the old Zeiss Ikon camera. From the sample photos you show it looks like there was a bit of damage, light streaks, done to the negatives when advancing the film. I have to see how my Ikon performs, I haven't had the film developed yet, which I took all outdoors in natural light.

Yeah it definitely could be damage to the camera since all of them seem to have it. Id be interested in seeing your shots.

Thanks for viewing

My first serious camera, a Vivitar 250/SL purchased from JC Penny in Chicago in 1976, which accompanied me to college and Korea.

My second SLR, a Minolta XG1 purchased at the PX in Yongsan, Seoul, ROK in 1981. I took many pictures of North Korean guardposts on the DMZ with it.
