So i recently traded my old 24-70mm for a brand new 35mm f1.4 (Camera store owners were willing to trade due to the huge backlog of 24-70)..

Is it me or it hard to remove lens cap if i have the len hood on? and why is the lens hood really stiff?

^ yeah its hard to put on / take off the lens cap when the hood is attached... you need ninja fingers to get in there lol.. i've gotten used to it and i can do it now but when i just purchased the lens it was hard to do it...

but sometimes even now, i take my lens hood off and then put the cap on, just incase i don't end up scratching the front element with the cap while putting it on.

The lens hood was initially quite stiff, but after about 2-3 weeks of taking it off / putting it on once or twice everyday it became smooth.

Also another question, how do you guys add that black border at the top and bottom of your images? do you guys do it in LR?

Photoshop..

Increase the size of the photo by cropping then just selected the white area > press delete > black.

I do it in Lightroom using LR/Mogrify 2 -- super easy to use and very customizable.

I've noticed particularly with this lens that the cap must be off for best results.

I have this lens in my BH shopping cart. Is there any reason not to buy it?

Your other lenses may collect a bit of dust for a while?

This lens and the 85 1.8 will be all thats in my lens collection. I need to sell the 28-135 for some money to recoup the price of this bad boy!

Still need to add a 50mm f/1.4, and 135 L or a 70-200 L. But I plan on using the hell out of this 35L!

I suggest not buying a 50mm then. I had a 50mm 1.4 sigma and sold it because of the 35L more usefull and better quality
