Default Leica Summicron

This shot was taken using a 90mm Leica Summicron at F2. Natural light from a window, and my two children. what do you think?

I like their expression. But the shot looks a bit overexposed on my monitor and maybe just a bit OOF. I think this shot may lend itself well to a B&W conversion

I like the portrait, but as Becki_D said, the foto seems to be overexposed, or you have done this with the post-processing.
Looks very soft too. A Leica lens must be razor-sharp IMHO

Thanks for your comments, the exposure was intentional, there is also a overall softness to the image which I like.
Any post processing is welcome.

Not a PS expert by any stretch. I'm sure others can do much more, but here is my quick and dirty B&W. A bit of level adjust, USM, just desaturated image (yes, channel mixer is better) and then ran it through noise ninja. Not sure if it's any better, just different

On my Monitor it looks perfectly exposed, went through and calibrated it to my Photolabs prints...

Looks perfect, B+W would probably look killer

That is excellent Johnny, well done. I did like the pastel shades of the original but this is very nice.

I think the first is perfect, without any blown highlights at all. I wouldn't change a thing.

The colours of the original are great, no complaints with it. Better than the B+W versions.
Just my opinion though.

Lovely portrait. The exposure looks pretty good on my monitor but there does seem to be a green cast to your son. Very nice capture for sure.

Thanks for your comments so far, I like the colour, the focus was accurate ,the exposure was straight from the camera.
The shot was the only one taken with the children together, it is, as I intended it to look when I pressed the shutter .
Although it is a Leica lens, I do not agree that a Leica lens must always be sharp.
The lens gives a particular tonal quality that I find appealing (which may not be to everyone’s taste )
But does the “mood” of the photo suit the subject matter? I think it does… But I am biased .

Well, in my mind, if one does not see eyelashes or the pupil of the eye on a portrait, then it is out of focus. A David Hamilton might get away with it but us lesser mortals never. The hair on the foreheads is in sharper focus than the eyes which supports my point.

Lighting and expressions are beautiful and the color balance very realistically that of an autumn's indoor light.

I really like this type of photography with no Photoshop magic or fancy fireworks going off from all sides. The feeling you captured is the essential feature of this photo, not hte fact that there was a Leitz glass in use.

But then again, that's just me

editing on the following day: I notice I like the softness...the sign of a good picture is that it gets better with each viewing!
