Default NCAA Championship: Women's Volleyball

Went to San Antonio for the championship, UCLA took it in 4, Alamodome was actually a really strong venue for the game.

From DC to San Antonio, I assume you were shooting FOR somebody?
these photos are excellent. No EXIF, what was your average ISO for the venue?
I'm happy to NOT see your usual PP techniques (the selective lighting, heavy vignette). These are perfect technically the way they are.
Did you have access to a higher vantage point though? The players blend in just a bit with the large crowds.

Great shots, exposure, wb, and composition are all spot-on. Would have been awesome if you could have rigged an overhead remote, you can get some great shots with that.

No, was a vacation with my girlfriend who also plays, with the upside of getting some shots of the championship while I was there. I shot at ISO 1600 at 1/800 and f/2.8 the entire time. I know you dislike the lighting effects I use for juniors as you've stated before. These were all shot from our seats so our shooting angles were VERY limited =).

Unfortunately I did not even have floor access so overhead would have been even trickier to pull off =)

Very nice gallery of shots. I wish they were larger.

I could have gotten in with pretty much anything smaller than a 400 I think. My girlfriend and I brought our entire camera bags and just decided to head there early, if they didn't let us in with our stuff, we'd just head back to the hotel, drop it all off, and go back. However, when we went to the Men's championship in May, they didn't even inspect our bags, so we decided to give it a shot here. They DID inspect the camera bag, but the guy said, "No Video, OK good to go". So we walked in with a 1d3, a 5d, 2 70-200's and 4 smaller lenses. The Alamodome's policy is "No professional cameras or lenses longer than 5 inches". However, when we watched the semifinals on thursday, they zoomed in on a parent of one of the girls who had a giant lens on her camera so we thought we were golden, and it turns out we were.
