Not sure about the "Union Jag" Kev, now if it was a Mini (proper one none of that Kublewagon malarkey)
that would be different
Went to a craft fair today and found a guy that makes furniture out of timber taken from H.M.S. Victory
during her refit before going on permanent display.
My shot for Great Britain.

Not to my taste i will admit, great talking point though, can you see on the table above the stool there is a lump of wood with some scratches in it, this had the Broad Arrow mark on it and it was up for £2900

I love furniture made out of interesting pieces - we have a table made from victorian beams from a school.

Here's my 52. Think this is better than the b/w.

Jack - Great Britain (2) by Penelope Malby Photography, on Flickr

This is Jack, he's one of my neighbours. Jack flew with the 2nd Tactical Airforce from 1942 - 1945, 129 trips into occupied territory. He flew Spitfires and Typhoons and won the DFC for flying the Typhoon. He's a hero.

A lovely capture Penelope. I bet he has many stories to tell. Truly brave men.

Thanks - he does, and told me several yesterday all very sad stuff really.

Thanks Matt. Quite different from my usual stuff. The plane next to him is a model of a Typhoon. Apparently it carried loads more firepower than Spitfires, and therefore did a lot more damage. he said they killed 10,000 people in 6 days

Great portrait Penel he does sum up Great Britain what would we be without people like him, and those who are currently serving, and I expect like all those who carry a chest full of medals a very modest man about what he has done.

I don't think I'm going to be able to get my planned shot, a tad anoying as I chose the subject to take the shot I have in mind, due to the weather not playing ball this week now have to work on a plan B if I can think of one.

Penel, this is a timely reminder of a disappearing generation. Viv's uncle flew Spitfire from '44 but he was reconnaissance so only shot with a camera! As for stories.................well my father was a PoW and the few he told me were stories of the softer sort

Nice additions Neal.

Here's mine for this week I'm a bit disapointed as I chose the subject this week and because of the weather I couldn't get the shot I wanted, the reason why I chose Great Britain, I think this sums up Great Britain quite well our history and our weather.

It's the Battle of Britain Memorial at Capel le Ferne just outside Folkestone the pilot is watching over the channel for those who did not come back. I was hoping to get the 10 stop filter out for a more dramatic shot with clouds and a bit of movement but the weather didn't play ball this week.
