Wow..

http://www.dpreview.com …012/01/06/NikonD4launched (external link)

And priced at $5999 ONLY!!!!!

I love Nikon to be straight foward and upfront. Why on the earth Canon did not want to talk about the price when the 1Dx was announced? Regardless this D4 is a killer deal... It will be very interesting to watch how Canon responds.

Really? I don't think so. They match up pretty much feature for feature. It's all going to come down to the IQ.

If their new sensor can do the same things the D7000 sensor could do, it will be much better than anything Canon's got.

Old news... ;)

They really worked hard on getting some higher-end video functions into there.

We have not seen what Canons 1Dx sensor can do yet.

Yep that's true. But for some reason Canon seems to be sitting on their heels right now. Nothing they have come out with in the past two years has been a major jump like Sony's sensors.

That's true, but one can hope.

I agree. :(

I completely assume the new sensor is going to blow the doors off the 1dx. Canon is attempting to equal an old sensor and probably just got leapfrogged again...

If the D800 does better than the D7000 sensor in DR and low ISO noise control, I am going to switch my name to Nikon_Lover. ;)

It's fascinating to hear so many Canon shooters believe that Nikon will beat Canon's latest offering, when neither of these cameras have been released yet and therefor nobody knows what the real deal is. Why do you guys just always assume that the grass is greener on the other side? Just sit back and wait.

Well, the new Nikon can autofocus at f/8 which is more than can be said for the X.

...but not much more.

The D4 looks fantastic. Eagerly awaiting a shootout.

An excerpt:

"Not one, but two Live View shooting modes are at your fingertips: Photography Live View and Movie Live View."

Hold on. Wait a minute... say what? "Movie Live View"???? How else does one record a movie with a DSLR if not via movie live view?
