I tried this method but just couldn't get it!!!

So just focus the face shoot then REFOCUS/RECOMPOSE on the background shoot? or face focus shoot then background focus shoot? square like pattern?

Sorry guys i know this is a bit annoying question. I've red the article on how to do it and tried but failed co i couldn't get a focus on the background at 1.2 on my 85L.

Thanks!

Nope never refocus! Focus once on what you want to be in focus, then just keep shooting without re-focusing.

Exactly. Easiest way to do this is use AF on the lens, take the initial shot, turn to MF on the lens, keep shooting without changing focus (or zoom, if you're shooting with a zoom).

I think you should take the photos in landscape.

Dreamt - I'd say take the photos in whichever orientation you are thinking the final will be, but I hear that you get less lens distortion out of shooting vertical. I have not tried this or anything, so I'm just speculating.

I usually take mine in the opposite orientation that the final shot will be in. In the end, I don't think it really matters.

...unless you have a 7D with the back button set for the AF in which case you just focus with the back button once and then shoot away.

True, which is what I do on my 7D as well. But if your camera isn't setup to do that, or you don't normally shoot like that, ... well yeah

It's a nice shot, but on my monitor I'm noticing that there is still some vignetting going on on some parts of the image in random spots.

Yeah, looks pretty good but I can also see some dark spots where it was stitched?

First try. Did it with a 85mm at f/1.4
