Default New and anxious to learn!

Hi everyone! I just purchased my new g3 a couple weeks ago and can't wait to try out many of the suggestions from people on this forum. I am a new photographer and have been reading this forum for about a week now. The reason it has taken me so long to join is because I am still trying to decide whether to return my G3 to Circuit City and wait for the G5 . Apparently, according to many posts, it is very close. The 30 day return policy allows me to do so. Any points of view on this?
Anyway, I look forward to communicating with as many of you as possible and I am sure I will learn many things because most of you seem very knowledgable.
By the way Nilolisgist, I live about 50 miles east of San Francisco, for your "where are you from" thread

Welcome to G3 fourm. Except for being 5mp vs. 4 there so far does not seem to be any good reasons for a G3 owner upgrading to the G5. The G5 official announcement is still one or two weeks away. It will take a few weeks for it to hit the shelfs of stores. It goes on sale first in Europe. I think it will be will past your 30 day return when the G5 arrives here.

Also as you can see there is no G5 fourm (yet). So the first G5 owners will not be able to benefit from the advice and tips of other owners until there is enough out there.

I suggest you enjoy your G3. From the G5 specs so far it's not that big of improvement on the G3. And of course you gets lots of great advice and tips in this fourm which is priceless.

Also Nilo is in NYC, but he can tell you that. There are other SF area owners that post here.

trbrogan,
Thank you for your input. What you say makes a lot of sense. I guess i should be happy with my G3 because it is an excellant camera! I know I will benefit by using this thread.
Looked at your gallery and really enjoyed the photos. I will be posting pics in the days ahead to get members opinions. In the next few days I will be purchasing items I need for my G3 such as lensmate and filters.
Take care!

boolrun,

Hi!! Welcome to the forum...WOOOOHOOOO!! Well, if you want to wait, no one can stop you. But, you know that saying, " a bird in the hand, is better than two in the bush".

Anyone, for the record. I am a WOMAN!!!! WOOOOHOOO!!

There is a lot to learn and do with the G3 you have right now. If you use it until you decide you will at least be ahead of the learning curve for the G5.

Good luck, look forwarding to seeing your photos and hearing from you.

If you didn't know, you have joined the best forum on the Internet.

Good luck and welcome.

Big Smile,

Smile,
I am also new here and the proud owner (4 days already) of a G3. I'm sure I'll enjoy it long after the G5, 6, 7 etc. have made their entrance. If I ever do upgrade it will be for better optics and not MP.

best to all
John
