Outdoor ones are really nice. For the indoor shots, you could try bouncing the flash (if using a flash unit). Would help eliminating harsh shadows and give you much more even and soft lighting.

Thanks for the comments and tips. Unfortunately I am still using the standard stock flash and I'm realizing very quickly how an upgrade could help me tremendously!

Find a used 430EX II. That's what I did. Makes a tremendous difference.

What a cute baby! Looks like he is really enjoying his birthday cake! My only critique is that the flash seems to be really over bearing. Apart from that, I love the pics of him in his bright red wagon!
