It's a semi pro camera with a large sensor and more advanced processor so I would have expected the above results. One thing to note, the G1X is not a macro camera, if you do long treks over hills to get your landscapes and want to be discreet in street photography then its ideal,it could actually replace the lower end dslr,s.

This is my first G camera so I,m really trying to work through it on a steep learning curve, this could be user error but I did notice the auto white balance wasn,t too my liking on the scene settings, so I,ve switched that off to get a warmer image, thats the way I work on the DSLR anyway. I think members should avoid trying to battle the camera against the G12 it has its own slot between smaller sensor compacts and the low/medium DSLR,s. It has different characteristics and as more users come on line no doubt it will have its followers. The images taken were JPEGS with some basic processing, shortly I will be shooting 100% RAW format which I should imagine give me the capability of reduce noise to a minimum.

Very nice images. You may already have seen these on DPR's Canon forum, but here's some interesting low light, high ISO concert photos;

Dennis,
A note on the low light setting for the G12... it reduces the G12 to a 2.5 mega pixel camera. I tried it early on and all the shots were ummmm horrible. Full of grain, etc. That's why I ended up getting a flash. Judder, Thanks so much for sharing the photos. They clear and sharp. I'm impressed with the capabilities of the G1 X... and I didn't I would be, truth be told. I'm sure your talent had something to do with it too. Kim
