I just found this today. I've been looking for something to use with my superzoom, and I think I'm going to get it, but I was wondering if anyone had any experience with it. I wish I could post it in the point and shoot discussion too.
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...2_Digital.html Thanks. edit: I think maybe I should have posted there. The G series has a hotshoe doesn't it? I have a Sony HV-100X and don't have that (want a Canon dslr one day though.) edit: maybe someone can move this to the flash discussion? I have the 28 CS-2. I got it in Dec 2010, and had to send it in for repairs in Oct 2011. It was fully covered by their one year warranty, so it is back to working great. I like this flash for it's size, convenience and power. I use it with our A620, G9, and G11. It allows you to have a sort of bounce flash by holding in your hand and pointing at the ceiling. I generally reduce the output power of the on board flash to minimum, so the slave will do most of the lighting. I also have the Canon 430EX II external flash, but I don't always bring it with me. The 28 CS-2 is easy to carry with you for times you need some extra power, or a bounce result, or an extra off camera flash for various situations, limited only by your imagination. It's easy to adjust the power settings as needed.

Could it be put on a light stand or do you just hand hold it for most things?
edit: do you think it could be used to make nice portraits? |

The folding arm on the side allows you to attach it to the camera by it's tripod mount. The knurled nob that you turn to screw into the camera tripod mount also has a tripod mount thread in it. So, yes, you can use that to allow you to attach to screw thread on another tripod head.
I don't use it for portraits, but it's power can be adjusted up and down quite a bit. Dennis |
