In my experience, I dont know how much faster 17-55 is than Sigma's 17-50. they're both F/2.8, and when I tested them side by side I didn't notice that great of a difference. I did notice a little more pop in the images (from what I could see) with the Sigma.
The Sigma seems to be a great performer, but everyone says the 17-55 has much faster AF, and I want to start shooting sports so fast and accurate AF is very important to me.

The Sigma looks like a slightly better lens optically, but I just have no experience with it so I don't know if the AF is fast enough for my needs.

Seriously, I'm going to create one that has bluetooth built in, and comes with a free app to run on your phone. High quality, easy to wash, safe, and when it goes missing, you just turn on the app and go find it. I'll make enough money to buy everyone in this thread a 5D Mark III..
