Hello all,
I've been meaning to try this out... does the 5Dc have back button focusing? If so, could someone school me on it? Thanks! -jon

By doing a quick google search it looks like C.Fn IV-1 and 3 will let you set up back button focusing. I don't have a 5D classic so thats about as much help as i am.

It takes over the * button, and, since there's also no FEL button, from memory you lose flash exposure lock.

Six weeks into my third try at back button focus. I'm getting the hang of it; it's getting to the stage of being automatic. Before, in previous month-long tries, it seemed counter-intuitive and I had to consciously think each time. Another week or so, and I'll try coming off C Fn 04_1 and giving 4_3 a try . . .

I use the one that leaves AE "unlocked" (I think it's Option 3). You don't want AE lock with every shot, there are times it will cause incorrect exposure.
You can always emulate the effect of AE Lock by switching to M and setting both the shutter and the aperture.

Until now, i used the back button to lock the exposure on the model's face, pressed the shutter button halfway to focus, recompose and press the shutter button all the way to take the shot
Now, if i put CF4 on 1, the exposure lock is gonna be made the same time when i focus? (using the back button) |
