Challenge #369 - Frame Within a Frame
________________________________ I'm going to steal from my daughter's photography class for this weeks contest. One of my favorite genres, frame within a frame. Set up a shot that has an existing frame around your subject within the shot. I love strong graphic elements. Examples here if I didn't explain it well enough: http://www.dpreview.com/challenges/C...e.aspx?ID=1730 Come on new G1x owners join in. ________________________________ To submit, click Post Reply and put your Photo Name in the Subject Line. Don't forget your Camera Model. Post until Monday noon GMT, 5th March, 2012. Photo Submissions
One challenge every week, on the following schedule:
Please consider turning on Private Messaging in your profile. This will allow the host to contact you about winning or ineligible photos. Thank you. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Click this sentence for Hosting Rules and Winners List. Click this sentence for Discussion of Rules thread. ryanshoots, 11ft 8in; I really like this one nice use of black and white it's simple but it still carries a lot of interest. Car, Side, Turkey; This one really grabbed me but it's a little washed out. Bringing down the exposure just a tad really brings out the blue skiy and white ruins mrshobden, Ted Islands In The Bay Inside A Tree! aka Tree Fungus; Great color and organic random shapes substitute, MoMa, NY Feb 2012 Canon G3; This is such a different take on the genre. First I really liked it then I seemed to object to myself that it's not really frame in frame, but then I come back and have to admit that it might well just be outside my limited interpretation but not outside the concept. I applaud you for seeing it. Kevan, City Island Cottage, The Bronx; I like this (and had no idea such a place existed in the Bronx) just a little to busy to really focus my attention teekay, Under The Bridge Under the Fog; Very strong image for me maybe crop lower with more water and let the second support frame the third. marie, Heavy Metal and beyond; great converging lines on the gate and the little splotches of color are nice accents. Maureen Souza, St. Paul's Entrance; really nice colors maybe to broad a crop to get me focused USMCWayne, Granbury, Texas; tough light in this one and you managed to hold it together. I always love stone buildings Results 1st- ryanshoots 2nd- Car 3rd- substitute thanks everyone for your participation I'm looking forward to a new week Last edited by pwdieter : 5th of March 2012 (Mon) at 10:25. |

Congratulations Ryan, Car & Substitute and thank you Paul for a brilliant hosting & judging job!
Maureen - I must say what a delightful entrance to a church - fabulous opportunities for wedding photos I imagine! Marie - loved the metal gates leading off into the distance. I was also loving Teekay's bridge picture too....in fact, a good selection of photographs overall, I liked them all !

Congratulations to the winners! All good shots but I thought the most clever was Subtitute's one of the kids in the hi-rise window.

I agree, Substitute's entry this week is really interesting. I'm not going to let the fact that I love the MoMA building complex sway my opinion, but isn't fun the take pictures there?
I agree too that it's a terrific collection of photos overall. Well, to be perfectly honest...Linda...yours kinda freaked me out a bit. Geesh..it looks like a fresh road rash wound. LOL! You know the queasy-gut feeling you sometimes get? Your entry was very successful. Terrific entries everyone and fun topic, Paul. Oh, and City Island is probably the most uncity-like place in all of NYC. Its' best known for the dozen of more seafood joints, boat storage marinas, and tumbledown neighborhoods. I need to go back with my bicycle and tour the place again.
