Checked the price on dpreview. $630 for the flash. $470 for the st-e3. Ouch.

Will it master the current flashes? It does not even mention it. I would get one next and the new STE If it will master a 580 or 430. Otherwise I don't see one in my future if I can't use it with what I already have.

You'd think that the new bodies (1Dx, 5D3, ...) would be able to trigger this flash without needing to spend $500 for a radio transmitter.

Where would they put it? Look how big that transmitter is already. Maybe in the 1DX, but certainly no room in the 5d3.

Canon is going nuts with their pricing! And look at that GN of 60, BUT at 200mm. Is that any different from a 580EXii?
I chose the canon system because they were more affordable than Nikon, but it seems not anymore.

Wow that is a lot!!! I just upgraded the flash for my nikon system to the SB-910 flagship keeping the SB-900 and SB-800 for a backup. That was $547.

I can buy a set of pixel kings and 4 yongnuo 565EX's for the price of one of these flashes...

...And would still need to buy a trigger.

It doesn't have a radio transmitter though right? Still line of site.

And this is fully compatible with the old wireless system.

£679 in the UK for one of these, price gone crazy. It is on camera, what does it trigger? Another 600ex at another £679 ......wow...cheap at half the price.
