Default Issue shooting video w/ 5dMii

Was just out shooting some tests with my 5D and came across some issues. In the first clip (and this is evident in pretty much every clip I've shot), I'm seeing a definite jitter at the edges of moving objects. The second clip has a tear in the middle of the clip. Both clips were shot at 24p with a 1/50 shutter on two different CF cards (the first was some with an 8gig and the second with a 16gig). Are these common faults or do I have a bum camera?

Mine definitely does not do that. Are you seeing that with the files straight off the camera?

I saw it when I was shooting, during play-back on the camera, in the movie viewer on my iMac, and in Premier Pro before and after rendering,

Further info: I'm using SanDisk Extreme compact flash cards, 60MB/s UDMA.

I'd try downgrading and then reupgrading your firmware. Then, if you haven't already, install Magic Latern's most recent version. Seems like a internal processing issue, which should hopefully be cured with a refresh of the firmware.

Hmmm, the latest version is 2.1.2... Perhaps try updating? LINK

The first part isn't too far from normal. Though it looks pretty nasty. The second is obviously a glitch of some sort. Issue shouldn't be caused by the 60MB/s UDMA cards, though I would try a full deep format on it before using again.

Yeah, I thought it looked pretty bad... It looks like a buffering error to me rather than shutter (speed or rolling). I've been doing tests all day and haven't had another tear as dramatic as the one in the second clip, but I'm going to go through frame by frame on a few of these tonight or tomorrow and see if there are smaller dropouts.

My camera should still be under warranty until July; I'm trying to decide if I should get it replaced or what...

I went through a lot of the tests I've been doing the last few days; no more dropframes. I'm kind of at a loss for where this jutter is coming from.

I guess this issue I'm having is fairly common, from some of the other threads I've come across on these boards and others around, but they don't seem to be universal? I've got the jutter, and I feel like there's these weird speed ramps during pans, too (maybe those two phenomenon are synonymous). But is this something that just occurs with the 5D in general? Are some individual 5ds better than others with this?

So upgrading the firmware didn't help?

Apparently not; the jutter is very distinct, even in relatively slow pans.

First two clips are the ones I've already shown, the second two are post firmware update.

Made a DVD with the files, watched it; the jitter/lurch is still there, so it doesn't appear to be a problem with the playback, either.
