Ah in no way shape or form have I encouraged software or media piracy Rene, and I resent the insinuation to be honest. You will find that I have been looking for a legitimate copy of a certain software package for a long time and still remain wanting a legitimate copy. I remain a anti piracy advocate and have been for several years.

And marketing cost - phooey! Its deliberate price fixing and we all know it.

It is price fixing. I can understand a small business owner charging more for a product because if he didn't spend money advertising no one would know he existed to buy from. But for Adobe's downloadable products it is plain price fixing.

Its just a shame that their software is so good. I would go out of my way to avoid Adobe due to the fixing they do except I have found their software first rate.....

I wasn't referring to you, but to a (now deleted) post

You can buy it here in Australia for the higher price, or you can try to get a friend to buy it for you in the US. Everything is more expensive here in Aus, even tho out dollar is higher than the US. e.g. the 70-200 f2.8 IS 2 is 3000...=/ You can either accept it and move on, or buy grey market, imported, online...

I got an unopened PSE 8 for $47 (inc postage $15.) off ebay.

Brand new, never used, licence code and all!

While I know I will have to pay fgor upgrades, and it will cost the same in the long run, at least I have got the program and can use it, and just upgrade at my leisure, when I have the cash!

This has nothing to do with fair. It's plain economics 101 and the fundamentals of our market economy. The fair price is what the majority of people are willing to pay for a product so that the company can maximise it's income. This is exactly the fair price. They are not obliged to treat all customer equal.

And it seems that many Australian are willing to pay more then the American....

Don't think I am not sympathizing with you - I live over here in Europe and product can easily be twice the price then in the US. It s**** big time. But there are always (legal) alternatives......

It's not economics at all in my opinion. It's simple market price fixing.
