I love horseback riding. It's practically my life. So if there are any fellow horse nerds out there, post away! You are also welcome to post any horse related pictures that you want.
P.S. even of you aren't really into horses, but have pictures you would like to post, you are welcome to it! |

Is it OK to post a link to a thread I started in Critique but got nearly no response?
My daughter started riding this year and I find myself shooting at the stables a lot. Glad you started this thread Tori. |

Thanks Jake.
Here is the thread. I was hoping to get some pointers on how to improve. I am there pretty often and find it to be a very interesting subject. http://photography-on-the.net/forum/....php?t=1165394 This is one of my favorites so far ![]() IMG_3957 by MSzuminski, on Flickr Last edited by smyke : 3rd of April 2012 (Tue) at 08:36. |

You may want to start this thread in the photo sharing section as opposed to the discussion forum, and you will get more respose as well I would think.

part of my CC on the pic is it is framed really tight, head on shots are usually not real flattering on flat work. Especially with them on the rail and a extremely busy background. I would try to get some pics off the rail, or shooting from the rail to the center of the arena but that arena does not look that possible, also try to get at quarters from the front dead on shots are not real eye catchers unless there making a big stop, or coming down the fence with a cow, coming over a jump.... Also if she was looking up and the horse was collected up and in frame it would make a better shot.

thank you jake
yes, the arena (if you can call it that) is a real pain with getting a good vantage point, lighting and the backgrounds. I try to do the most I can with it and I appreciate your pointers. |

This is me and my girl, Mirai. The images could probably use some cropping and what not though.

Thank you Tori. I am just starting to learn how to PP. I am sure these could be done even better but I am happy with them.
The rider is the owner's daughter so she knows what she is doing apparently. Here is one more. Tight crop but I had to straighten it and ran out of room. LOL ![]() IMG_7207 by MSzuminski, on Flickr |
