I would really love to ride along in one, that would make for some seriously awesome photos!

I just wish I had a 100-400 to put on my camera instead of my 70-300 that I can't use the last 15mm or so of... It just gets too soft on that end. It's a good lens but too soft at the max focal. One of these days I'll have an extra grand to blow on that lens, lol.

I would have liked to hit that Immokalee as that would have made for a great birthday thing to do...

You could always rent a lens for a few days. I've already put in my order for a 17-55mm f/2.8 IS wide angle for the Wellington show. I would have rented the 10-22mm which I love, but I'll also be renting the 17-55 for a trip to Colorado at the end of September, and this will give me a good opportunity to see how I like it.

Me being obsessive about taking everything I own (or just about), I'll also have my Nifty Two Fifty with me, and my 300mm f/4L IS. Hey, you never know, right??

Have a happy birthday, whatever you decide to do.

I could have done that but I only just found this thread and wellington is to far of a drive for me... lol. If I had more lead time I probably would have.

I hope you have fun with those lenses, I'v always wanted a 17-55, what a sexy lens... You've got yourself some damn fine lenses that you own as well.... I feel you on wanting to take the whole system. I'm kind of a pain like that myself, you just never know what you are going to want to use. I will have to keep my eyes open for the next hot air balloon even as I've always kind of wanted to go up in one. It would certainly be one heck of an experience! My family and friends are too pansy to do something like that, they are all afraid of heights....

I don't like heights (or small enclosed spaces) either, so I think I'll keep both feet planted firmly on the ground for this one. LOL

Won't help. There are certain places where the height doesn't bother me...... Grand Canyon, top of what was the World Trade Center, etc. Height in a plane doesn't bother me either. A hot air balloon I think would bother me, harness or not.

I have no clue why I can deal with it in some places and not others. That's just me I guess. I think it's safe to say I'll never try sky diving either. LOL

This is a subject that the Transportation fans might want to know about as well...

Well, looks like if you didn't go, you didn't miss much. First we sat through a polo match, which was like watching paint dry. There was no seating, and we hadn't brought our own chairs, thinking there would be....... and then came the balloons. All two of them!!

BALLOON GLOW 20120512-IMG_8678 by eaglssong, on Flickr

It was breezy, and they were afraid to inflate more of them, and then the one on the left started to collapse and people were running to get out of the way. That was the end of the big Balloon Festival in Wellington.
