Default Visiting Seattle

I am flying in to Seattle, WA as a chaperone and was curious if anyone had any ideas for something to do on a Thursday. I'll be free up until about 6pm when the convention starts.

The Pacific Science Center has a neat butterfly exhibit if you're into that sort of thing. The EMP/Sci-fi museum are also worth a go. The view from the top of the Space Needle is nice, but probably more of a night thing... I wouldn't eat there though. Pioneer Square is usually a lively place as well, and has the advantage of being free there's also the Pike Place Market which is fun and free.

Pac. Science Center; go down and wander Pike Place Market; hit the Olympic Sculpture park at the Northwestern end of the waterfront; wander the waterfront. Pioneer Square can be interesting; but it's a sketchy area these days, so keep a little more vigilant if you're wandering down there.

There's a new park, down on the South end of Lake Union that has a little, sailboat pond and a maritime museum; you can also get some good looks at sea planes coming/going off the lake down there.

Hope you have a good trip out, Ryan. If you like open areas, you might, also, want to try and get out to Golden Gardens park for a while; that will put you right on Puget Sound and is a nice, open beach.

Things I would add are the Underground tour (it is still open, correct?) and I have wanted to but have not taken a ride on the duck boats.

Cool, thanks Bil and Eric. We'll see what I can get to. I'm a little restricted since I don't have a car. I'm out by the convention center in seattle. was kind of hoping to make it to the zoo but we shall see. I have till about 4 to try and do something today.

Another cheap thing to do is to take a ferry ride.

The ride to Bremerton from downtown is more interesting then the ride to Winslow-Bainbridge.

Here is a link to the underground tour - http://www.undergroundtour.com/about/history.html
