Smile POTN G - series speed challenge # 375 'knobs and knockers'

Hello Everyone

Welcome to challenge #375

no laughing now..........lol but seeing this T-shirt ( picture below) in the window of a posh brass ' knocker and knob' store in the city centre a few weeks ago..
(first time I ever saw a T shirt in their window, its usually 'dressed' with brass knockers ... and knobs ) it got me was wondering a little as to : 'how many knockers (and knobs) are hanging around today' ? on doors that is

I think bells and intercom (or something) are used mostly now.. ?..

not too sure though

lol
for the challenge I would love to see great photos of knockers or knobs . they can be old or new knockers or knobs , mostly.... on a door
(even if its ajar)

no worries, if you get stuck give me something of your idea of same equivalent.
heres hoping some fun is involved. and terrific photos

Thanks, and Good Knockers to all !

Congrats to Rafael, Linda & Kevan. I am sorry there weren't more entries...
I did spend part of one afternoon driving around through several old neighborhoods where the houses have character but it was so dark & stormy, I didn't get out of the car to shoot anything. Plus, a lot of the older homes have replaced their front doors with modern technology and not much jumped out at me. Rafael, I LOVED your entry......

Congrats Rafael!! Loved it!! Congrats go out to Kevan and Linda also. Even though my time has been really curtailed recently, I really looked for something to shoot this week, and zip-nada-nothing doing in that department.

Thank you marie! you are always so kind with my pictures. Congratulations Linda and Kevan for your entries.

With my Pro1 sitting in a drawer with its damaged sensor, I do not participate or post in the challenges frequently, but I enjoy the pictures every week.

The theme for this week is a favorite subject for me.

A few years ago, with my Pro1 fully functional, I went to the old downtown in Quito to shot old doors for challenge # 075 - Doors.
That was an inspired day. I got the door for the challenge and many more from the old churches of the city to build a small photo gallery that is one of my favorites Quito: Colonial Downtown Doors
From one of those photos, I re-worked my knocker.

Thank you Maureen for your words. I'm always enjoying your photos and commenting at home how the combination of a fantastically sharp Pro1 and a good photographer produces those lovely shots.

Thank you Michael, it is sad to hear that you and Maureen got a busy week with such a great theme for the challenge.
I will think on the next challenge to post it as soon as possible.

Well done Rafael, Linda & Kevan, and to Marie for hosting and judging. Sorry I didn't get to enter either this week, truly meant to but with the kids off school and the eldest having her birthday, time just ran away with me. Kevan - I liked your subtle confession!

Okay! Okay! It's not really a door that I shot. It's our coffee table. Yup...a coffee table. And the only reason why I picked it was because our sideboard didn't have enough texture. The door knocker, our door knocker, is waiting a new door when the opportunity presents itself. Currently our front door is mostly glass, and well...knockers don't behave nicely with such doors. So it has been sidelined for a while.

Rafael, always good to see you come play. Very nice image indeed. Linda, nice treatment to your image as well.

I tend to blush easily. My finger was poised over the post button for the longest while because of that title. "Hmm...should I?", I thought to myself. Finally I decided, "Damn the torpedoes!"

Oops! There I go again...

Thank you Marie & congrats to Rafael & Kevan.

Our front door doesn't have a knocker ...just a temperamental bell ...but most people bang on the door! So I resorted to photographing my shed/outbuilding's knob instead.

Loved Rafael's photo - the Ecuadorian buildings look so grand and Kevan, I love how you come up with the titles you do...you do have me giggling!

Looking forward to the next challenge!
