Portait on the Beach - Help!!
Hi all. I was recently approached by a friend who asked me to take a photo of her daughter (a high school senior) on the beach. She was really unhappy with the one taken by the school photographer and wanted to try something else. I'm pretty good with nature photos, and get lucky with photos of my kids sometimes, got great ones of my dog but I haven't really done official human portraits! I told her I could try! Questions for you seasoned photographers: 1. At what time of day/type of sky is best, and 2. more or less what settings would you use. I haven't yet worked in Raw, but I am pretty good at photoshop in JPEG. 3. What kind of posing has worked for you in the past (just standing on the beach sounds boring) 4. Which lens? I have my beloved 7D and the following lenses: 100mm Macro 2.8 L, 70 - 200mm f4 L, 24 - 105mm f4L. I also have the 50mm 1.8. I know that a tripod is probably a must. Thank you for ANY input!

the 70-200 for sure and use the 50 1.8 for some head shots/close ups.....shoot from an hour before sunset all the way to sunset.
put the sun behind her and use a fill flash on some shots
