Cream of the Crop

Since many people are wondering what the S100's battery is capable of (it's easily the most disappointing aspect of this otherwise awesome little camera), I thought we could share how long the battery lasts...
On my last charge with my genuine Canon battery, I got about 100 shots and about 5 min of video. I had the GPS on about half the time, and I reviewed most of the pictures I took on the LCD. Your turn! |

GPS is what's draining battery. I don't have mine on and seems to be okay. I will keep track next time.

185shots,
204 shots, 148shots - with reviewing lots.. over the last 3 charges I have kept track I generally keep settings to minimal, no review after shot, no GPS on, only when I am in a remote location( incase BigFoot finds me )LOL. no continuous AF setting and so on.. |

I was disappointed with my Powershot so plumped for a Nikon S8100. The battery life wasn't much better unfortunately. Didn't count the shots but ran out after medium-intensive use over around 6 hours.
I guess it's the price you pay for compacts getting, well more compact! |

Yes dissapointing but the 3rd party batteries are cheap so grab 3 or 4 , they don't take up much room .

When I got this camera, I was worried about battery life. I bought 2 additional batteries, so far, I've never had to go to the third one in a day of shooting.
I'm averaging 180 to 225 shots per battery. That is with video. I do minimal chimping and have display set to turn off after 10 sec not a min. Also, try to keep the screen brightness down.
