Default Is the data on a CF standard?

I am in a rush to print off a photo from my G3s CF card.

All the labs I tried say it will be tomorrow before they can give me a print.

I am still awaiting a PC replacement from when mine was stolen, so I cannot upload to a PC.

One option I was concidering is placing my G3s CF card in my brothers Olympus 5050Z, which can also use CF cards. If the Olympus software can read the data I can then upload to his PC and print on his printer.

Does anyone know if this will work?

Failing that I expect I could load the Canon Software onto his PC, but I would not want to stuff up his Olympus software. Any comments on this option please?

The files are stored on your card as jpegs, it's the directory format that's probably different - the best solution for you would be a card reader... it's also a lot, lot quicker to read the images that way...

Thanks onehotrx7,

I had assumed a card reader would still use the same software as the camera. Is this incorrect then?

They're just Jpeg's - you can copy them with windows explorer and view them with just about anything... if you want to do fancy formatting as you download them, try Breezedownloader from www.breezesys.com ...

Excellent. Thanks.

I just ducked out and bought a cheap CF card reader.

The CF Card Reader worked a treat.
Thanks again.

I could never really see why there was such an interest in card reader before. It's so easy to plug the camera into the USB cable, which I leave hanging from the PC. Since they both use the same USB I expected them to operate at the same speed.

I haven't yet tested the speed issue, since I only wanted to print the one photo.

Also, the insurance has finally been sorted out and hopefully I get my replacement PCs today.

Bruce,

I guess you would have been out of luck if you had shot everything in RAW mode, huh?

PacAce,
I guess you could be correct, although my brother happened to have a magazine with a free version of Breezebrowser attached. It's V1.4, so not sure if it would have helped.
