Add the weight of the body, grip, 2 batteries, and the 70-200 and hitting at the right angle. I'm sure glad I'm a firm believer in lens hoods.

We just picked up a 35/2 lens and are looking into hoods for it.

Think bigger, not just this, camera insurance in general

Yup, always have backups.

I dropped my brand new skyport at yesterday's wedding... and this is what happened.

The version 1 skyports were much tougher. I dropped them a million times and they never broke. This one took only one fall to smash into pieces. Not impressed.

I think I drop something at every wedding.

At the previous wedding to this, I accidentally kicked my 1Dsmk3/50L/pocketwizard. It bounced across stone flooring about 7 ft. The pocketwizard foot snapped right off, but the lens and body were fine.

It just happens as a working pro. Who has time to baby their gear while on the job?

Did you get a running start?

Exactly, they build roadcases tough for a reason!

Haha, nope. It's amazing how far they can go without much force.

I tried snapping it back together. No dice. It needs to be glued or something.

Picked it back up and the strap caught on a slat and pulled it out of my hand. Thankfully, it didn't fall far and this was the only damage. Put the good one on and bounced it off a reflector. Thats why I dont like using straps either

Switched from Skyports to Phottix Strato II a while ago. 100% reliable and uses AAA batteries. No cords if mounting to flashes, and they have adapters for other uses.
