There have been days where I've walked 3 miles and still had enough energy to carry on throughout the rest of the day. I don't know if it helped me sleep better though.

I used to do that until it stopped working.

Yes it does help a little I was sleeping a little better when I rode my bike for at least 15 miles a day.

It's very Chronic... LOL @ macro studio. I'm usually either on here or doing photoshop during the mundane hours of the night anyways.

Yup. Two of them will usually put me out for the night, if I'm tired but can't get to sleep.

Yah, I don't do that all of the time. I am afraid of 2 things. Becoming addicted to it and using it to the point where it doesn't work anymore.

I plan on doing that tomorrow evening if it doesn't rain on me. That's 9 times around the outter edge of the track at our civic center.

When you realize some thing stops working, it's pretty scary...

I think I'm going to start off easy with my bike rides again... hopefully that will help.

I'd love to ride my bike but there are WAY too many coyotes in my area.

Now that's ironic because I usually ride to a set of hills on the bay called Coyote Hills...

Glad to hear you are gonna get back to cycling! =)

For those recommending alcohol, I really wouldn't. Its a depressant so it does help you get to sleep, but it also blocks some hormone production (serotonin and melatonin iirc) which will prevent a deep sleep (unless taken to excess I suppose, but that has its own problems). And there is the added problem of having too much liquid before going to bed besides.

Another thing to look at is diet. Eating too large a meal at night can contribute to insomnia, especially if it is heavy in simple carbohydrates. Whole grains on the other hand will generally help you sleep, but again only if the meal is moderately sized. If practical, make lunch the largest meal of the day instead of dinner, or try eating 5 smaller meals a day instead of 3 (which has other health benefits anyways).

Thanks for the advice! I've definitely been trying to eat healthier but sometimes I just can't make anything and get fast food I try and eat oatmeal at least once a day too, which has to count for something.
