I had one sold it to big for my tastes . I got the 1200 rx packs and a 3000 n heads. I also got a dynalite battery pack the fastest recycle possible. nice system I do have 2 rx 600 with two mini lithiums for lighter weight kit. but slower recycle. the 1200 rx pack without model lights recycles in under 2 seconds at full power.

Depending on things i might get a 1200 pack or 2400 pack as my next flash.
I know i will get at-least something RX as i have a skyport receiver left over and i can't leave it all alone.

Listen carefully to make sure it's not the light making those sounds when you're using the Tronix. I just returned one because my Profoto D1s made that high pitched sound when they started recycling on it. Plus the built in Pocket Wizards on Profoto Acute 2R 1200s and Compact 300/600 Rs would stop working after a dozen pops. Both symptoms that the Tronix converter can't handle the initial demand for current even though it was rated to handle those lights.

No the recycling sound is the Tronix.

OK, well that's good. It's got fans on it to cool the converter. They may just be slowing down and then speeding up from the initial high current demand.

I just got a D-lite it 2/4 starter kit in the mail, i can power those with the Explorer XT SE in addition to the 1200 RX with no problems at all. Also the more advanced Skyport Speed trigger all the flashes without a hitch

I just think the receiver is sensitive to being plugged into the RX 1200 if it's on. ![]()

Give it some time. I've had issues with every combo I have. Ranger RX Speed AS, DLites and BXRi500.

I would rather say that the Skyport system is sensitive, if one knows things it don't like it works reliably, but that is a whole bunch of things.

In my opinion Elinchrom has dropped the ball with the reliability of the Skyport system. I've used it extensively in Studio for a couple of years and have had enough instances of mis-firing. Shutting off and turning back on lights tends to reset. Currently I'm having an issue with the BXRi firing when I'm triggering a different channel.
i'm just requesting you post any issues. |
