Bird'watchers' still moaning about photographers

Comments by some of the 'antis' in this thread make me want to take them gently by the throat and try to explain that they have no natural right to silence and solitude in public places etc...

I think intolerance is experienced in all areas of life, on the roads, in shops, and hides. It is annoying when sitting quietly that birds get disturbed by others and that includes, photographers, twitchers, birders, noisy kids etc etc.

Can't say I'm surprised. I used to run a thread on that site where I'd post updates on garden birds with photographs etc. I gave up as I was sick of talking to myself. A few decent contributors but sadly some less so.

yeah. I just ignore the snooty people that are trying to ruin other people's day so they can have the place to themselves.
sometimes I open carry my firearm (clearly visible) and that keeps any BS talk away. its funny how that works.
Although I usually concealed carry it.

Think i'll stick to bugs, only people who approach to say anything always seem genuinely interested when shown the subject, hardly anyone seems to have even heard of Springtails for example. I do get the odd over nosy dog but as I like dogs that's just a bonus.

Hey, I worked with birdwatchers on an outing in an area wildlife refuge, led by a well-established fellow, they were happy to have me tag along, them with their binoculars and notepads and me with my big camera and long white lens! We had a good time!

In my experience, some bird photographers are decidedly rude and noisy while others a pleasure to be around. The same is true for birders.

I was at a birding event over the weekend and I did not sense any issues between the birders and the photographers. There were a bunch of both. They seemed considerate of each other. Now, I refused to use my tripod due to the crowds/space. Many were using them however.
