Monopods and TSA Air Travel

I have a monpod that collasps to 35 inches.
It also doubles as walking stick.
It will not fit in checked bagage.
Have flight Sunday.
How do you handle airlines and TSA folks ?

Monopods are not on the TSA list. Consult the TSA website, to verify for yourself.

shouldn't be a problem with TSA, the person at the gate might have other ideas. it depends on the airline and the human to you have get it past when boarding.

Box it up seperately and check it in. 35 inches is not much. Your current check-in bag must be tiny

It has to do a lot with the individual "personal judgement" from the agent.
I was flying last week and I asked specifically about monopods and tripods as carry-ons. The answer was that carbon fiber ones are OK but metal ones are not. Go figure...
OTOH I have had an aluminum tripod as a carry on and had no problems.
My guess is that you will have many right answers to your question. Good luck!
